The mission of our CERC is to use large-scale genomics to contribute to the discovery and development of new therapeutics. Our vision is to build up, over a 7-year period (2019-2026), a hub to support target identification, target validation, optimal indication and proof-of-concept trials for investigational medicines, by capitalizing on natural, rare variations of the genome and the uniqueness of the French-Canadian population.

Based on this strategy, we have already recruited one research coordinator, one TT in Computational Genomics, one senior post-doc expert in population genomics, one post-doc in medical genomics and one bioinformatician. Additional positions are getting filled. Moreover, we have demonstrated, using the COVID-19 Québec Biobank, our ability to mobilize several university hospitals to join effort in a federated, decentralized way. In addition, we have developed with the Genome Center a new sequencing approach to meet our CERC needs.
