One major aspect of our research program is to use the mouse as a mammalian model to study host pathogen interaction. Our research is centered on susceptibility to Salmonella infection, a global public health concern, to identify host genes that confer resistance to infection and to uncover novel characteristics of Salmonella pathogens in relation with their host cells.
With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, we participated in the repurposing of the McGill BCL3 laboratory to work with SARS-CoV2 in order to increase Quebec’s research capacity to fight against the current and any future pandemic. The mission of the CL3 platform is to maintain a degree of readiness to enable innovative research in animal and cell models to study disease pathogenesis and test therapeutic approaches to rapidly respond to human infectious disease outbreak.
